Glasgow Civic Forum

The Scottish Civic Trust is working with local affiliated groups in Glasgow to establish a Glasgow Civic Forum. Building on the Glasgow Conservation Forum which was set up in 1999 as an informal association of conservation and amenity groups in support of Glasgow's unique heritage, the new Civic Forum will address wider built environment issues and aims to:

  • provide a forum for community councils, local associations, amenity and civic groups to discuss issues of common interest
  • to strengthen the dialogue between civic groups in the city and share best practice
  • to encourage greater interest and involvement in national planning and built environment initiatives.


Glasgow Civic Forum is chaired by Ann Laird of Friends of Glasgow West. Current membership of the Glasgow Civic Forum includes:

Membership is free and open to representatives of the following groups within the Glasgow City Council boundaries:

  • Community Councils
  • Street Associations
  • Area Associations
  • Civic/amenity groups
  • Local interest groups
  • Building Preservation Trusts
  • Other heritage groups

The Forum is not usually open to private individuals, political groups or commercial organisations.

Meetings are held on the second Thursday of every month.
