Paisley: Past, Present, Future

21 September 2017

Paisley Title Banner

Paisley, Scotland's largest town and once the flourishing centre of the weaving industry, rich in beautiful architecture and civic pride, is now a shadow of its former self.  However, with recent improvements to the public realm and key buildings and a new sense of optimism around the bid to become UK City of Culture in 2021, now is a good time to look afresh at the town.  Where have we come from, where are we now, and where are we going?

The Scottish Civic Trust, together with Paisley Methodist Church, present an evening of three talks exploring Paisley's history and heyday, what has gone wrong and what can be done to encourage a more positive future.  There will be plenty of opportunities for discussion and questions.

Past: Professor John Hume OBE

Present: Dr Valerie Wright, University of Glasgow

Future: Jean Cameron, Paisley 2021
