Architecture Centre Network: AFFILIATED MEMBERSHIP
LAUNCHED
The new Affiliated Membership scheme has been launched by the
Architecture Centre Network to strengthen the cultural values of
the Network, share knowledge and to promote collaborative cross
sector working.
The first affiliated
member is the Scottish Civic
Trust.
Architecture Centre Network has, for the past 10 years since its
formation, been the national development and advocacy organisation
for 20+ independent architecture centres in the UK. This new
initiative will bring non-architecture centres such as museums,
galleries, festivals or Universities that seek to enable public
engagement in architecture, the built environment and the public
realm together to develop a greater public understanding of
architecture, design and public space.
"Over the past 10 years our members have come together to form
a strong network of organisations that have excelled in delivering
programmes to help create better quality neighbourhoods, buildings
and public spaces in the UK. The new Affiliated Membership scheme will
enable us to share that knowledge and experience with similar
organisations in order to build on this success." Bridget
Sawyers, Chief Executive, Architecture Centre Network.
"The Scottish Civic Trust is
delighted to join the Architecture Centre Network as its first Affiliated Member. The Trust
seeks to encourage active interest in all aspects of the built
environment and shares many of the aims and aspirations of the
network, particularly creating higher quality buildings, places and
public spaces. The Trust co-ordinates several high-profile
national projects which encourage greater awareness of the
architecture and places that make our country so special,
including: the hugely popular Doors Open Days weekends, the
PhotoArch photography competition for schoolchildren, and the
community-focused My Place Awards. The Architecture Centre Network
is an excellent delivery mechanism for collecting resources,
information and experience."

Organisations that subscribe to the Affiliated Membership scheme will become part
of this community and provide them with sector information and
collective resources; access to members-only events and extranet,
promotional opportunities on the Architecture Centre Network
website, newsletters, press and social networking sites; and
discounts on specific events scheduled throughout the year.
