New to social networking? Whether you love it or loathe it, there's no denying that the popularity of social networking is on the rise. And with an estimated 400 million active users worldwide on Facebook alone, it doesn't look to be slowing any time soon.

If you're a still stranger to the phenomenon, a social network is like an online community where you can share your opinions, experiences and just about anything else with others on the internet.

Here at SCT we'll be using social networking to spread the news about our projects and to help others get in touch with and share ideas about what they've been up to.

Not convinced? Need some proof that campaigning through social networking websites works? Well recently Bletchley Park won crucial funding and it is the clever use of sites like Facebook, Flickr and Twitter that has helped to get the message out; a Facebook group set up to ‘Save Dumbarton High Street’ has gained over 2000 members in a matter of weeks; and more than 1800 people have signed up to a Facebook campaign to protest the proposed changes to Stornoway Town Hall, concerned that they would strip the building of its character.

So, if you haven't done so already, why not visit our Facebook page or follow us on Twitter. Join up and you can share information about buildings and architecture in your area or local projects to improve your environment!
