Who We Are

Trustees


The Scottish Civic Trust was founded by Trust Deed and is a registered charity (SCO12569).  The Board of Trustees are individuals who act in a voluntary capacity to govern the affairs of the Trust.  For the purposes of the Charities and Trustee Investment (scotland) Act 2005, they are Trust Stewards and are required implement this statute as part of their duties.

Trustees are taken from a broad spectrum of Scottish society.  There can be a maximum of 20 Trustees at any given time, and it is for Trustees to appoint a Chairman from their numbers.

The current Chairman (effective October 2006) is Ray Enwistle. Mr Entwistle is the Chaiman of Adam and Company Group Ltd, Scotland's premier private bank based in Edinburgh. He is past Governor of Edinburgh College, and past Chairman of the Fruit Market Gallery, Edinburgh. He has been a Trustee since July 2003, and succeeds Mr Simon Miller as Chairman.

President
Professor Sir James Dunbar-Nasmith CBE

Professor Sir James Dunbar-Nasmith was been a long-standing Trustee.  He joined the Trust in 1981, and was its Chairman from 1995 to his resignation from the Board in June 2003.  At this point, he was made President of the Trust.

Patron
The Prince Charles Duke of Rothesay KG KT GCB PC

The Trust is honoured to have the Duke of Rothesay as its Patron.  Prince Charles is also the Patron of the Civic Trust for Wales.
