A fond farewell to our Director Susan

Our Director, Dr Susan O’Connor, has decided to leave us for pastures new. The Trustees would like to thank Susan for her dedication, creativity and energy over the last four and a half years. Under her leadership the Trust has flourished as we developed our Strategic Plan (2019-2024), transforming our work programmes around the themes of celebrating, taking action and advocating for Scotland’s built and cultural heritage, improved our financial position, governance, operating and reporting systems, and grew our workforce to a team of seven talented and enthusiastic staff. Susan will be taking on the role of Head of Grants at Historic Environment Scotland in January 2023 and we all wish her every success in her new role.

We are now beginning our recruitment campaign to find our next Director. This is our most senior position reporting to Trustees through our Chair. We are looking for a talented and dynamic individual to become our new Director. The successful candidate will be responsible for further enhancing the charity’s reputation and influence, acting as an advocate for the heritage sector, developing effective partnerships, inspiring greater support including generating income, developing our thematic work, running a charitable organisation, managing, motivating and developing a small team of staff, and reporting to and working closely with our Trustees. This is an exciting and rewarding role with the opportunity to make a huge personal impact.

You can read more about the role here. The closing date for applications is 19 October 2022, with two-stage interviews being held on 2 and 10 November.
